In december 2017 industrial designer Bas and fashion designer Karin meet each other. Karin’s previous collections could have been made on Bas’s machines! Bas translates interdisciplinary production techniques into innovative machines to produce textile products. Karin develops new applications of techniques from outside of the fashion industry to develop innovative design- and production methods. We share the same vision: contributing to a more sustainable textile industry through developing innovative, local and digital manufacturing techniques.
In 2018 we intensively collaborate during the WEAR Sustain Horzion 2020 project. Our partners are the RWTH Aachen, the TU/Eindhoven, the Textilemuseum, Alexander van Slobbe, Marina Toeters and Martijn van Strien. Our collaborative knowledge and and skills resulted in founding UNSEAM. Our approach is interdisciplinary; fashion, industrial design, production and science come together.
